Qi maintains and regulates the human body through six main functions. Qi transforms, transports, holds, protects, raises, and warms the body.*
Balanced Qi function provides homeostasis: harmony for the body, mind, and spirit. With balanced Qi, life is easy; sleep is peaceful, energy is plentiful, creativity flows, relationships are fulfilling, and work is meaningful.
Without homeostasis, Qi becomes deficient or excessive. This disruption can be due to many things, ranging from significant life events such as a traumatic life experience to something simple like eating greasy fries for dinner. Our actions, relationships, diet, and more all impact our Qi.
We can most easily recognize Qi deficiency or excess through physical or mental symptoms and disease. A few examples of Qi deficiency include fatigue, diarrhea, a weak immune system (easily catching colds), and depression. A few examples of Qi excess include stress, constipation, and irritability.
Traditional Chinese Medicine consists of methods and tools to support the healthy flow and regulation of Qi.

Medical Qigong is a branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine that combines holistic therapies such as movement and meditation to support the healthy flow of Qi. This system dates back to 450 BC. For thousands of years, ancient wisdom and practices have been passed down from Master to student. Qigong, which translates to ‘energy work,’ is the term for meditative movements used as a prescription of Medical Qigong to move and build Qi in the body.
Similar to acupuncture, Medical Qigong utilizes many Chinese medicine theories such as the 12 Meridian Theory and the Five Element Theory, which both map to major organs and energetic pathways in our physical body.
Medical Qigong consists of:
Unlike Western medicine, where the body is compartmentalized, Eastern medicine works holistically. Today, you may see different doctors for your headaches, gut challenges, and relationship troubles. Medical Qigong identifies the connections between seemingly random symptoms, treating the body and mind together.
This ancient practice considers the body, mind, and spirit as one. Emotions are not separate from our organ function, thought patterns are not separate from our injuries, and thus, one piece can’t be addressed without the other.
A Medical Qigong practitioner, like Emily, has cultivated an awareness of Qi and has the ability to stimulate, regulate, and move Qi as needed throughout an energy session.
The goal of Medical Qigong is to alleviate symptoms to improve well-being and empower patients with personalized tools (i.e., Qigong movements, meditations, mantras, food, theories, etc.) to promote continual growth and healing.
The holistic power of Medical Qigong can help with most ailments, from emotional to physical. For example, I’ve helped clients:
Emily lives in Santa Monica, California which is a sunny beach town located right outside of Los Angeles county. For those who are not located in the area, remote coaching and distance Qigong healing sessions via FaceTime and Google Hangouts are available.
Emily is open to working with anyone who is respectful and motivated to pursue a healthier and happier life. She works with all ages, genders, and backgrounds.
Holistic healing and coaching is an ongoing journey. Emily will typically recommend a minimum of 3-6 months of sessions in order to experience tangible change and meaningful results. During the first session, Emily will recommend a personalized plan based on the clients’ present concerns and map out a timeline that best works with their schedule, budget, and overall goals.
Emily requires her clients to cancel at least 24 hours in advance of their scheduled session for a full refund. Sessions canceled within 24 hours will incur a fee of 50% of the cost of the session. No-shows will not receive a refund and will still be charged 100% of the cost of the session. If the client is more than 15 minutes late they will forfeit the appointment and will not be refunded. A partial refund for unused time in session is not available.

A Qigong healing session is an energy healing session. During this time, Emily will interact with the clients Qi, making adjustments where needed. A coaching session does not include energy healing.
Qigong on the beach is a moving meditation session where client(s) will learn how to gather, move, and cultivate Qi. This session does not include energy healing; however, the Qigong movement will likely provide healing benefits. Clients can take Qigong on the beach sessions together whereas a Qigong healing session is 1:1.
